  52.         <B>Followup to the <A href="../issue3_6/21-anime_bastard.html">previous review</A>
  53.         in <FONT SIZE="-1">EX</FONT> 3.6:</B><P>
  54.         
  55.         I will probably have to disagree a bit with our previous review of <FONT SIZE="-1"><A
  56.         href="../issue3_7/20-anime_battleathletes.html">BATTLE ATHLETES</A></FONT> in
  57.         terms of it being a shoujo show (or aimed for young girls). After watching
  58.         through the series, I find it a light comic story with a variety of
  59.         characters, much like <FONT SIZE="-1">TENCHI MUYO</FONT> and <FONT SIZE="-1">EL HAZARD</FONT>.<BR>

  62.         HSPACE=12>These last two episodes of the <FONT SIZE="-1">OVA</FONT> series deal with the Great Competition
  63.         for the title of Cosmic Beauty. Will Lahrri win for the 3rd year in a row?
  64.         Will Mylandah take the crown through hook or by crook? Or do our heroes
  65.         Akari and Kris have a chance against the odds?<BR>

  68.         HSPACE=12>The production values have remained high throughout these volumes, and the
  69.         <font size="-1">DVD</font> version I previewed was a relatively solid <FONT SIZE="-1">DVD</FONT> offering. The lack of a
  70.         episode jump option from the main menu was minorly annoying, and on my
  71.         player switching between menu options was a painfully slow process, but
  72.         overall the video and sound quality is great.<BR>

  75.         HSPACE=12>My only real problem with the series throughout all the volumes is
  76.         Mylandah's true vengeful evilness that shows her to be a flat character
  77.         with no purpose other than to cause dangerous problems for our
  78.         protagonists. Other than that, the characters are likable and have a enough
  79.         depth for an interesting mix, and I am interested in seeing how <FONT SIZE="-1">BATTLE
  80.         ATHLETES VICTORY</FONT> (the <FONT SIZE="-1">TV</FONT> series) does with a larger cast of characters
